Contracts with health insurers

Obstetric care

Obstetric care is covered by the Health Insurance Act and the basic package of the health insurer and is exempt from the deductible. This means that the health insurer pays for the care we provide.

If we do not have a contract with your insurer, you must first pay for the care yourself and then submit the bill to your insurer. You will then not get the entire amount back. If this is the case, we will discuss the rates with you. At the bottom of this page you can see which insurers we have a contract with.

Deductible and personal contribution

You do pay a deductible for some tests and medications:

  • • (additional) blood test (Hb and Glucose)
  • • medications
  • • transport to hospital by ambulance

If you want to give birth in a hospital or birth center without a medical indication (outpatient birth), you pay a personal contribution. The amount of the personal contribution varies per hospital or birth center. You can take out additional insurance for this with your health insurer.

You also pay a personal contribution for maternity care. This is in an amount per hour. You can also take out additional insurance for this with your health insurer.

Contraceptive care

Most insurers reimburse contraceptive care from the midwife. Are you insured with Zorg en Zekerheid or AZVZ? Then the insurer will not fully reimburse contraceptive care, that is non-contracted care. After the care, you first pay yourself. You can submit the bill to the insurer. They will reimburse part of it. If this is the case, we will discuss the rates with you. Depending on your age, contraceptive care (contraceptives) is or is not included in the basic package and subject to the deductible.

  • • Younger than 18 years: contraception is included in the basic package and you do not pay a deductible.
  • • Between 18 and 21 years: contraception is included in the basic package. You do pay a deductible. The deductible applies in any case to the contraceptive that you pick up at the pharmacy (such as the pill and the IUD). With most insurers, you do not have to pay the deductible for the appointment in advance and the IUD placement. Check this with your insurer.
  • • Older than 21: contraception is not covered by the basic package, but can be part of your supplementary package. Check with your insurer what you will and will not be reimbursed.

Consultation on wanting to have children

You can visit the practice for consultations on wanting to have children. Most insurers reimburse consultations on wanting to have children. Are you insured with Zorg en Zekerheid or AZVZ? Then the insurer will not reimburse the consultation on wanting to have children in full, that is non-contracted care. You pay yourself after the consultation on wanting to have children. You can submit the bill to the insurer. They will reimburse part of it. If this is the case, we will discuss the rates with you.
