Are you pregnant and looking for a midwife who gives you all the attention you need? Then you’ve come to the right place! We offer obstetric care in Nieuwegein, IJsselstein, Benschop, Lopikerkapel, Vianen, Hoef en Haag and Hagestein.
We are an involved midwifery practice which provides you all the support and guidance you and your partner need. Every pregnancy and every childbirth are unique. Every pregnant woman has her own story. We’d love to tailor our services to your personal needs during pregnancy and labour. We have a dedicated and experienced team of midwives which is right by your side, day and night. At our practice you can also opt for all ultrasounds during your pregnancy. For several years we have been offering the newest form of guidance during pregnancy: CenteringPregnancy. You are also welcome for individual consults of course.
We work closely with the gynaecologists at St. Antonius Hospital as well as other hospitals in the surrounding area.
Since 2017 we are part of De Geboortezaak, but perhaps you remember us as St. Antonius Alnatal. Same team, same location, only a different name.
Main location St. Antonius Hospital, Nieuwegein
Our main office is located in the St. Antonius Hospital in Nieuwegein. You can easily reach us either by bus/tram/bike or by car. Park your car in the parking of Theater or Stadhuis. From there you can take the free Antonius busses tot the hospital or walk 10 minutes. Inside follow the signs "Geboortezaak. Or comming from the main entrance, take the first entrance on the right and take the elevator or the stairs to the second floor. We also hold consultation hours in IJsselstein.

Pregnant women from IJsselstein and the surrounding area are also welcome at our midwifery practice in IJsselstein, where we hold consultation hours every Friday at De Groene Biezen IJsselstein (physiotherapy practice). To visit our midwifery practice in IJsselstein, please call us on +31 (0)88-320 64 30 and schedule an appointment.

Every working day from 8.30 am to 12.30 pm and on Tuesday evenings from 6.00 to 8.00 pm to schedule an appointment and for non-urgent matters.

Lydia Schotema - Nutritionist
Lydia is a nutritionist, lifestyle coach and sports nutritionist. I love to make people more conscious about food and their personal diet. I offer tools to make it easier to eat healthy and I work with practical examples. Besides this, I work together with the midwives in guiding pregnant women with pregnancy diabetes. You’ll have to do it yourself, but I’d be happy to show you the way.
Inge van Soelen - Lactation consultant
Inge is a lactation consultant IBCLC, lactation consultant NLG and a baby wearing consultant. My vision is that everyone has the right to obtain good and honest information. So that you can make decisions about how you want to feed your own child in a way that suits your family. You can contact me for information meetings about feeding your baby, consultations during your pregnancy, or when you’ve given birth, consultations for how to carry your baby. I also rent electric breastfeeding pumps which can be used during the postpartum period.
Michael Kars - In-house gynaecologist
My name is Michael Kars and I am the in-house gynaecologist of the midwifery practice De Geboortezaak in Nieuwegein. I’ve been working as a gynaecologist at the St. Antonius Hospital since 2005 with a specialisation in obstetric care. I work together with the midwives of De Geboortezaak for pregnant women who would like or need to see a gynaecologist during their pregnancy. I visit the midwifery practice to consult with the midwives and to see the pregnant women during a consult with their own midwife.
Physiotherapists
During pregnancy there is a chance you may experience physical discomfort in your back, pelvis or pelvic floor. When these symptoms occur, we sometimes recommend you to consult a physiotherapist. We work together with a number of physiotherapy practices in the surrounding area specialised in pregnancy and pelvic (floor) symptoms.

Listening to baby's heartbeat
Do you want to listen extra to the baby's heartbeat and pregnant between 12-24 weeks? You are welcome on Mondays and Thursdays, after 3 pm. Please contact our assistents for that extra check.
Online information evening about pregnancy and giving birth
For our English speaking clients, we organize online information evenings about the pregnancy on january 6, february 17, march 31 and may 12, about giving birth on december 16, march 3 and may 19. You are most welcome!!

We organize an online information evening about the postnatal period on january 13, march 17 and may 26. You are most welcome!
